Here at Purple Hoot we believe that there are many occasions when eCards can be as powerful as real paper cards.

The great news for the environment is that the fewer physical cards that are sent, the less paper is required from trees and fewer trees need to be cut down.

Why do we need trees? Trees are absorbers of CO² and help reduce many pollutants in our atmosphere. They also hold the soil in place and prevent flooding by absorbing water. In some places, they shade our homes, causing us to use less energy. Trees provide habitat for many species of animals together with essential products such as fruit, nuts, timber and many other products we use every day.

Lets all try and use less paper when we can!

Through Adopt-A-Rainforest, individuals, school groups and other organizations contribute funding to small conservation groups in tropical countries that work to stop rainforest destruction. Donations to the Adopt-A-Rainforest projects support the purchase and sustainable management of tropical forest lands.

Donors may choose to support a particular project in a country of interest, or they may ask the Rainforest Alliance to select one in need. Many people make donations to Adopt-A-Rainforest on behalf of loved ones, to celebrate weddings, birthdays and holidays, or in memoriam.

Donors often design and stage creative fundraising events that help publicize the work of their chosen Adopt-A-Rainforest project, raising awareness in their communities about the importance of rainforests. For ideas, check out some of our donor success stories.

Because many donors are kids or teachers, the Rainforest Alliance offers free educational materials featuring the Adopt-A-Rainforest projects. Check out the Rainforest Alliance Learning Site for multidisciplinary curricula containing stories, lesson plans, presentations and everything teachers need to connect their students to the conservation projects supported by Adopt-A-Rainforest donations.

After you have raised money to donate to Adopt-A-Rainforest, you can either fill out and mail the donation form or donate online. As a small token of appreciation, you or your designated gift recipient will receive a beautiful certificate. Remember: even a small amount of money can go a long way!
